Welcome

The objective of the laboratory of Virology and viral diseases is to acquire and disseminate knowledge on viruses and viral diseases of veterinary interest, including exotic and wildlife diseases as well as zoonotic infections, with the aim to improve animal and public health.

Its missions encompass research, education and expert activities.

Scientific research is oriented to the study of interactions between hosts and viruses responsible for animal or zoonotic diseases, extending from basic towards medical and clinical virology subjects.

Education activities concern undergraduate students (general virology, animal viral diseases), graduate students (molecular virology) and continuing education programmes for veterinary practitioners (animal and zoonotic viral diseases).

Dissemination of knowledge is ensured by scientific, technical and professional publications, by communication to media when information of the society is requested, as well as by the participation to national and international expert committees.
