Teaching
Veterinary parasitology
General parasitology (protozoology, helminthology, mycology, entomology) is taught to undergraduate students. Special emphasis is given to the complex interactions between hosts parasites and vectors. The course is illustrated with relevant examples of veterinary interests.
Parasitic diseases
This course describes the principle parasite diseases of ruminants, equines, carnivores, pigs, poultry and wildlife of temperate regions with a practical orientation. Special emphasis is given to zoonotic diseases. For each animal species an organ-based system is used. For each disease, pathogenesis, clinical signs, differential and etiological diagnosis, control and prevention are taught.
Practicals and laboratory training
This part of teaching aims to the acquisition of basic skills necessary for the diagnosis of parasitic diseases.
PhD programmes
Postgraduate students develop original research programme dealing with few specific themes such as neosporosis, dermatophytosis and vector borne diseases of cattle and companion animals.
Continuing education
Continuing education programmes dealing with emergent animal or zoonotic parasitic diseases are organised both for veterinarians in large or companion animal practice.
